World of Warcraft Expansion: Wrath of the Lich King One Week Review

Posted by Susan on November 24, 2008

ALL I CAN SAY IS – I Just wanna play all day!

Great job Blizzard – you nailed it.

Well the expansion has been out just over a week and I have to say that I am pretty impressed with its content.   The landscapes are amazing, and the quests are pretty cool. Blizzard has tried very hard to make the environments very interactive, users can now destroy buildings, and hijack vehicles to complete quests. This makes levelling your character an interesting experience.

In contrast to the previous expansion, blizzard has developed this one on previous Lore, this gives the user a more personal feeling to the game – we aren’t just going to a new place to complete objectives, we are learning about how our characters came to be allied the way they are, why we have the abilities we have, and the story about how we all fit together in this vast and creative world.

Users are enjoying the variety of moving through the world – in previous experiences there were only two ways to travel the world a griffin or a hippogriff (well for the alliance anyway). Now you can take a bird, a dragon, a plane, a tank, the options are endless. Blizzard has out done themselves.

Now that isnt to say that I dont have problems with blizzard’s expansion. Levelling may be fun with all the new things to see, but its hard to level with your friends. Blizzard has made it that you unlock zones but doing chain quests, one after another, you finish a quest, more become available. The problem with this is if you are levelling with your buddy and you do even 2 or 3 quests without him/her and you both are way off in terms of doing the same quests.

The New Dungeons in the expansion, are interesting, making the events of killing them very interesting – bosses may summon clones of themselves, or create a shadow of you that attacks you – this makes the events interesting and challenging.

Well, so far I have only heard good things about Blizzard’s latest baby and personally i have had no problems myself – more to come later in the week, I gotta go PLAY!!
